We are a small, one-attorney firm, originally specializing in school law issues; now providing services to a variety of professionals. Our typical client is a professional, perhaps a coach, who needs assistance with work-related issues: unfair re-assignment, wrongful termination, certification challenges, and pay inequities.
Policemen, teachers, coaches, and school administrators work in jobs that often put them under unfair scrutiny and in stressful circumstances; which can lead to negative employment actions.
When that occurs, they find support - and a legal defense - waiting for them here at our firm.
Our firm represents all types of eductors, police officers, and others, in matters pertaining to their employment.
We offer:
Our satisfied former clients are THE major referral mechanism for our new clients!
Karl "Tiger" Hanner brings to you, the client, his robust legal skills and his large body of experience, earned by practicing law for many years. He possesses a familiarity with key people, found in Texas institutions and state agency entities, and a solid tactical approach to his cases.
What sets Tiger apart from so many other attorneys is his passion for his clients; his commitment to them as people. You can retain many attorneys who will represent your case quite well. Or, you can retain Tiger; who will represent you as if he is your own brother!
Tiger's Statement Regarding Law Enforcement People:
I defend police officers as part of my law practice. The Texas Municipal Police Association has given me the honor of representing law enforcement officials across Central Texas for over a decade. As such, I regularly represent officers at the scene of shootings and critical incidents. It is not uncommon for me to arrive at the crime scene within minutes of the shots being fired.
Over the years, I have had multiple clients who were shot in the line of duty. I have had two clients lose their lives.
Recently, the public has been deluged with negative news stories regarding the wrongful actions of police officers. I will not condone, or excuse, those officers that violated the public trust. However, I am discouraged that this country is allowing the stupidity of a handful of law enforcement officials to destroy the respect and credibility of the entire profession. There are literally thousands of law enforcement officers across this state and nation that do their job the right way, every single day! They put their lives on the line to protect you and your family.
Remember, when everyone else is running away from danger, these police officers are running toward the threat; in an effort to keep our communities safe.
Good law enforcement officers are of the opinion that the bad officers need to be held accountable for their misconduct. Those individuals deserve the scrutiny and punishment that is heaped upon them.
But please, I implore you not to let the handful of bad apples change your view of the vast majority of these fine people. Every profession has their bigots, morons and idiots. I know my profession does.... and I am confident that yours does too!
Police officers are being subjected to unprecedented levels of hate and anger. I regularly work with officers who are being cursed and threatened, when they didn't do a single thing to warrant that treatment, except put on their uniform.
Thus, I am asking this of each of you. The next time you see a policeman, please take a moment and tell them, "Thanks" for the work they do. It won't take you more than a second, but, I can assure you, it will mean the world to the men and women who wear a badge. Thank you for allowing me to share.
